KSU did not know about Norris Coleman either. He was also made it through the clearinghouse but the NCAA ruled that KSU had to forfeit the games he had played in and took away two years of eligbilty from him. KSU was involved in no way - it was all over a rule change while he was in the army that affected his MS/HS grades.

So, yes, KU could be sanctioned.

But they won't because they're KU.

Indy, would you honestly expect a KU program so rife with cheating over the past 50 years to admit they knew about this? You realize that adding more probation to the probation they're currently under would be a near-death experience?

If justice prevailed, KU would receive the exact same treatment as WSU for the Ozell Jones situation. WSU didn't know about his transcript but the NCAA didn't care about that, the penalties were swift and severe.

Will you tell us you expect the NCAA to handle the same situation differently? WSU paid a heavy price but KU should skate?

Do I understand this right? KU presented falsified records to the NCAA clearinghouse. The NCAA clearinghouse approved the falsified credentials. KU will not receive any penalties or anything, because the NCAA accepted the falsified credentials?

If the NCAA had discovered the credentials were falsified, then Arthur would not have passed the clearinghouse and not allowed to enroll at KU. KU would have fallen back on the "we didn't know" excuse and had no sanctions?

Is that the way it works now? There's no penalty for a school presenting falsified documents to the NCAA? If that's the case there may as well not be any entrance requirements.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

To answer your question, No. You do not understand it right. The prospective player/high school guidance counselor are responsible for completing and filing the clearinghouse requirements. The recruiting institutions only involvement is in being able to track the progress of gaining eligibility through the information being received by the NCAA clearinghouse process.

And yet WSU took a hit for the same situation with Jones. That's the whole point that nobody wants to address. I understand that they didn't know, but considering our past experience it shouldn't matter.

all I know is at the time I presented my license to the officer I knew it was good.

The letter I recieved in the mail the next day said other wise.

I was still charged with presenting a false license.

Not trying to argue Sub, just trying to understand. Jones' transcript was found deficient after two years? And he was not allowed to play with WSU thereafter? Am I correct so far? If so, I don't see exactly how that does not equate to KU's situation. Arthur will not play for KU again either because he is going pro. If Jones had gone pro, where would the difference be? Did WSU suffer some other form of penalty?

If I remember what I've read in the past correctly the Jones thing was still used by the NCAA to put us on probation.

WSU was not allowed post-season play for 2 years. Cliff Levingston was allowed a rule exception and allowed to go pro a year early.

The other significant infraction at the time was a recruit borrowed a jacket and was still wearing it when he got back on the plane for California.

I believe the times have changed and NCAA rules have changed. It appears it is impossible for a college to be involved in the transcript and clearinghouse process, which isn't the situation when Jones was recruited.

I'm certain no booster would ever "encourage" any fudging of records so that someone who wasn't going to graduate from HS somehow ended up with all the required HS credits at the proper levels to get past the NCAA clearinghouse.

And when they've been in your house for 50 years, the joint really stinks.
